Map

Please help us to run a realistic recce ride for our participation in the Cycling UK Cathedrals Cycle Route Challenge.

We ride from Portsmouth Cathedral to Winchester Cathedral with elevenses in Bishops Waltham. The pace of the ride will not be a challenge for anybody, but the distance and hills might be for some. We would really like feedback on how riders of variable experience might cope, so riders of all levels will be welcome. Please do not use this ride as an 'elevenses only' ride because we want to understand how well people manage the whole trip.

Some of us will be returning from Winchester by the scenic route via New Alresford; there is however the train return option for those not wishing to make the full day out.

The actual Cycling UK ride will be on 20 June, and you might want to bookmark this date as well.

About Wednesday rides

Wednesday rides usually start from Havant with stops for elevenses, lunch and sometimes tea. If you're unable to keep up or have a mechanical problem, someone will be available to help you - although we obviously cannot guarantee to solve all problems.

Wednesday rides usually provide a range of options to riders as we'll try to arrange multiple rides with different paces, distance and degree of hilliness.

On Wednesdays it is likely that there will be several riders coming back to the Havant area after an elevenses stop - although they might not include a PCTC ride leader. If that is what you'd like to do, please consult the ride organiser before the day of the ride to ensure someone knows and is able to bring you back.

We have had a lot of spam comments, so each comment now has to be moderated before it can be shown. It can therefore take some time before your comment appears. There is no delay, however, if you use the 'Contact us about this event' link. If your comment does not appear here after some time has elapsed, it is probably because it was deemed to be not of general interest.
