Map
A leisurely-paced fairly flat ride out to the Dovecote Eatery at Cams Estate, Fareham for a late elevenses/early lunch snack. The weather forecast is showing sunny with a gentle breeze. The varied and scenic route will be using some cycle lanes and residential roads and is via Farlington Marshes, Cosham and Paulsgrove. Meet for a 9:45 start at the Havant Spring Centre, or 10:15 Farlington Marshes car park (Eastern Road), or at Hilsea bus rank 10:40 by arrangement. Approx 23 miles. Back by 14:15 ish. The Dovecote Eatery offers good value and variety and has a spacious covered area and an adjacent sheltered open area. Check out their website for further details of this rustic setting. Please note also that payment is 'card only'.

Ride leader notes
My rides will generally be fairly flat and conducted at a relaxed pace with some stops along the way to take in the scenery and take some water.
When it comes to hills you will probably go ahead of me and wait in a safe place for the group to reform.
If you are a rider who just wants to get there fast or one who is monitoring their performance, then my ride is probably not for you.
My Hybrid Helium Crosstrack purchased from Halfords for £139.99 in 2006 is happy to cover all terrains so my rides may include some rougher surfaces, in which case that will be stated in the ride details.
I try to come up with routes that have some interesting features. It could be cycling through a park, or alongside a coastal section, through quiet residential areas. Often there will be a ferry crossing. Where possible I will use shared cycleways avoiding main roads, though when necessary we will use them in a safe and confident manner.
Above all I will try to make the ride an enjoyable social experience.
About Saturday rides
Saturday rides tend to be small ones. Typically we offer fewer options for rides than Wednesdays, but more flexibility for routes and destinations.
Most rides are morning only, riding out to a stop for elevenses and back again.
Some will be full day with stops for elevenses, lunch and, possibly, tea. If you want to join a full day ride but only to elevenses and need someone to help you with the route back, please let us know in advance of the ride in case someone else that knows the route wants to do the same.
This article describes what you should consider bringing with you on one of these rides.
