Michael Moore's funeral will take place on Wednesday 9th September at 3.30. Because of COVID-19 precautions, attendance at the service is invitation only. Michael's popularity means there are no spaces available - sorry.
Instead, you can participate in several ways:
- We will meet at 3.15 at the church in order to form a guard of honour for the coffin between the hearse and the church - the hearse is expected to arrive at 3.25. PCTC club tops - any vintage - if possible.
- We will meet - with bikes - on West Street in order to form up in front of the hearse and lead it to the Oaks Crematorium at the east end of Bartons Road (2 miles). We're expecting to leave the church at 4.30 to arrive by 4.45. We will lead the hearse to manage speed and (hopefully) ensure respect from other road users. Again, PCTC club tops - any vintage - if possible.
- Attendance at the short committal service (currently only a few family members plan to attend - Mary won't be there). We will be unable to socialise at the Crematorium.
- We are invited to tea and cake at the Emsworth Slipper Sailing Club after the committal: Quay Mill/South Street, Emsworth PO10 7EQ. Again socialising opportunities will be limited.
In order to ensure we keep everyone as safe as possible it is essential that you let Mike Skiffins know if you want to participate in any of the above. If we have to limit numbers it will be on a first-come basis. I'm sure you'll understand.
The funeral will be live-streamed on the St Faiths Facebook page.
What a brilliant way to pay tribute. Very sorry we can’t be with you - away on LEJOG, which I’m sure Michael would have approved of. Make sure to get plenty of photos!
