About faster Sunday morning rides
Sunday morning rides from Cosham to elevenses. Rides are at a moderate pace and would suit anyone who is comfortable on category A or B club rides.
This article describes what you should consider bringing with you.
Hi Brian (or whoever gets this!),
It might be worth letting anybody who is going to do the Round the Island this year that the organiser is requesting pre-registration for the ride here: http://www.cycleisland.co.uk/index.php?page=pre_reg_14
I don't suppose that anyone will stop us riding round if we don't register, but it would be discourteous not to!

>I've done this ride a number of times and it makes for an enjoyable day.
?I pre-registered for the 2013 event (as did my 2 cycling companions) but when we got to the start (Kite Hill) the huge number of riders queuing to register saw us ride by without registering (or clocking in at the checkpoints/finish).
> I'd not seen this as discourteous at the time but maybe it was?
> What shall I do for 2014?My first inclination is to just go on the day and enjoy the ride (and company of fellow cyclists) independently of the official event.
I have done the ride both with and without getting my card stamped on several occasions and enjoyed it every time. I suppose if riding round the IOW is a big achievement for you (and it is for many "leisure" riders) then it's worth having the card stamped up.
I think that registration will at least give the organiser a feel for how many are likely to participate. They may have to provide an estimate of numbers to the IOW council (or whatever governing body it is) as part of gaining permission to run the event.
Of course, I could be talking a load of cobblers here (and it won't be the first time that someone is wrong on the internet), but registration takes less than a minute, so I did.
Presumably registration also helps the organisers inform the many people who help with the delicious catering for this event? If I do this rather wonderful ride this year I'll aim to register at least a week in advance ...
