Map

The annual President's Ride is an opportunity for the whole club to participate in a local ride that is inclusive and accessible to as many as possible.

  • The ride is on Saturday to include members who work during weekdays.
  • You can ride at your own pace, regrouping for elevenses, lunch and tea (and perhaps in between).
  • The navigation is organised so that you needn't be concerned about going off-course.
  • The whole day distance is short at 59 km (37 miles).
  • The total ascent is less than 1% of the whole distance, (which classifies the whole ride as flat). The ride to elevenses is super-flat; there are some hills on the way to lunch, but nothing serious. The ride to tea is mostly downhill.

This ride is a fun ride with a low challenge threshold; the aim is for all of us to get together and perhaps meet with riders that we rarely see on other club runs. It includes some beautiful coastal and Downland scenery that is typical of our area, with no severe hills, up or down. Fixed wheel friendly if that is how you roll.

We will follow a similar format to the 2022 President's Ride, with ride leaders looking after the front and back of the group. The pace will be easy, with all turnings well signposted by human signposts. ( More information on the ride organisation can be found here (referring to the 2022 edition of President's Ride))

Elevenses, lunch and tea are at the appropriate times. Lunch is at Stansted Garden Centre, which can be busy on a Saturday afternoon; there is however a picnic area where we can eat our own food, or buy a takeaway (or just a cup of coffee) from the café to supplement a picnic; if everybody decided to eat-in we might have a long wait for service.

STOP PRESS: The weather forecast is good. Which means bringing sun protection is a Very Good Idea.

About Saturday rides

Rides usually from Havant with stops for elevenses, lunch and sometimes tea. If you're unable to keep up or have a mechanical problem, someone will be available to help you - although we obviously cannot guarantee to solve all problems.

Riders are free to join and leave the ride at various points. Some ride directly to the elevenses stop.

Saturday rides are (usually) much smaller than Wednesday rides. As a result they offer fewer options for rides but more flexibility for routes and destinations.

If you want to ride with us but only to elevenses and need someone to help you with the route back, please let us know in advance of the ride so we can try to arrange something for you.
