Gosport D Day Tour
On this day in 1944 the D Day Invasion was underway, so a fitting date for tour of Gosport which takes in several sites relating to the event, as well as other hidden history of the town.
We’ll depart Havant Spring at H Hour +2.5, or 08:30hrs, with a fairly direct ride to Gosport.
When we get to Gosport I’ll take you on a 26Km circular tour with frequent stops where I’ll tell you about the areas history.
We’ll finish the tour in Gosport, where we can get lunch and you can then choose between using the ferry or riding back through Fareham to return home.
This is not a fast ride.
The tour of Gosport will be stop start as we visit the various places of interest.
In order to see everything, I think we will need to be at the Gosport start point by 10am. If you’re a slower rider and want to join the ride you could consider setting out earlier and meeting us in Gosport – let me know if you want to use this option.

Ride leader notes
I enjoy rides of all distances, but my preference is longer distance and Audax rides. I also enjoy occasional touring & cycle camping.
For general riding and Club rides my usual bike is a Genesis Single Speed - enjoyable riding, not as hard as people think, and easy maintenance.
I tend to Lead longer and more demanding rides. These rides will be more suited to experienced riders who can keep a consistent pace and are okay with hills. If you've not ridden with me before I may want to check your ability before adding you to a ride.
Occasionally I will lead shorter & moderate pace rides - in which case this will be clearly shown in the ride description.
About Pop-up rides
We have certain days when we try to organise regular rides. However, individual ride leaders can create pop-up rides for any day and time.
The small size of some pop-up rides means we might be unable to split a ride if you get into difficulties. We will do all we can to escort you back to the start point, but please be prepared to navigate yourself home or to call for support from a partner, relative or friend.
