With a title like that, there's no denying there are hills involved. The longest climb - up to the top of Butser Hill - is one we did as part of the Cathedral Challenge in 2016; so it's not a dreadful one.

We'll have a self-catered coffee stop at the top of the hill with great views over the Downs, followed by an exhilarating descent down Harvesting Lane. We'll then make our way to Steep and the Harrow Inn (NB. no cards - cash only). You're welcome to bring a picnic lunch, but the connoisseurs among us will be looking forward to the famous meal-in-a-soup.

After that we'll go back to Havant via Petersfield, the Butser Cutting and Rowlands Castle with a small detour round Westbourne to add some miles.

Bookings for this ride/event

Pop-up rides are invitation-only. We are operating under Government guidelines which dictate we must control the size of our rides. Do not attend a ride unless your name appears below or you have received an invite from the ride leader. You cannot assume that you are eligible to join a ride just because you asked to be added.

This ride cannot exceed 6 riders (including the ride leader).

This ride is currently full but we encourage you to ask to join the wait list. That will let the ride leader:

  • Find out the demand for that type of ride
  • Nominate you as a replacement if someone drops out
  • Arrange to split the ride if there is sufficient demand

About Pop-up rides

We have certain days when we try to organise regular rides. However, individual ride leaders can create pop-up rides for any day and time.

The small size of some pop-up rides means we might be unable to split a ride if you get into difficulties. We will do all we can to escort you back to the start point, but please be prepared to navigate yourself home or to call for support from a partner, relative or friend.
