The ride will start from Mengham, Hayling Island at 11am, with coffee. Then we will look nearby on Hayling for interesting wildflowers which have recently come into bloom. Next we will cycle to QECP by way of Rowland's Castle, Finchdean, Buriton, then QECP cycleway. Lunch will be at the QECP visitor centre. We will return southward via the Clanfield cycleway, Horndean, Rowlands Castle and Havant. There will be some pauses on route to look at, note and perhaps photograph the wildflowers seen.

Bookings for this ride/event

Pop-up rides are invitation-only. We are operating under Government guidelines which dictate we must control the size of our rides. Do not attend a ride unless your name appears below or you have received an invite from the ride leader. You cannot assume that you are eligible to join a ride just because you asked to be added.

This ride cannot exceed 7 riders (including the ride leader).

This ride is currently full but we encourage you to ask to join the wait list. That will let the ride leader:

  • Find out the demand for that type of ride
  • Nominate you as a replacement if someone drops out
  • Arrange to split the ride if there is sufficient demand

Ride leader notes

I joined PCTC in 1986 and have enjoyed club rides ever since. I have two Mercian touring road bikes, a Trek hybrid and a carbon -fibre Specialized Ruby racing bike.
I am considering buying an electric bike, as I find hills a bit tiring now. My usual average moving speed is 10 to 11mph. If I'm riding in the urban environment and have to keep stopping, or if it's very hilly, my average may drop below 10mph.
Although I used to do a lot of long distance rides (Audax PBP & LEL, S.R. Le JoG, etc.) I generally prefer rides of 30 to 50 miles these days. A refreshment stop is a must!

About Pop-up rides

We have certain days when we try to organise regular rides. However, individual ride leaders can create pop-up rides for any day and time.

The small size of some pop-up rides means we might be unable to split a ride if you get into difficulties. We will do all we can to escort you back to the start point, but please be prepared to navigate yourself home or to call for support from a partner, relative or friend.
