Map

A Friday morning only ride out to Graylingwell Chapel for Coffee.

A MODERATE paced sunny(!) & hot(!) ride out from Havant Spring (9.00am start), taking the easy route out to Westbourne and Raction, turning off to Stoughton and East Marden for the hilly bit!

Following the long cruise down hill to Lavant we'll pop into Graylingwell Chapel for Coffee before heading down to a coastal return via Bosham Hoe and Prinstead through Emsworth back to Havant.

My route shows it as 55km of summer riding. GPX attached.

Ride leader notes

Riding a lightweight road bike (during better months) the faster day rides I lead are typically 100-130km (60-80m) and occasionally 160km (100m).

Routes are at best undulating, usually “lumpy” (hilly), sometimes with severe hills!

- Average GOOD speed on “Faster” rides: 23kph (14mph)
- Average TYPICAL speed on “Faster” rides: 21kph (13mph)

Morning only rides are scaled back versions of day rides, usually at the same pace.

I also lead moderate rides as well, where the terrain difficulty is reduced (not so lumpy!) and the speed is adjusted to those attending the ride.

When I lead Waterlooville Community Cycle Club (WCCC) rides, which are generally easy relaxed rides, the pace is that of the slowest attending rider in the group.

About all-comers rides

These are half day rides for all members. They are moderate or more demanding rides (we also run easy rides for people unsure of their capabilities). Depending on numbers we split into groups to accommodate different speeds

Originally, we didn't ask you to book to join these rides, but that proved difficult to administer. We now ask you to let us know you're coming. The ride is still unlimited, however.
