Map
This is a repeat of last week's Bronze challenge ride from Havant to Portsmouth and back via Portsmouth Cathedral. We'll be doing the same route but the other way around and using Farlington Sainsbury's for elevenses.
The ride will be combined with one of our monthly easy rides, so you'll meet some more Portsmouth CTC riders. Later on in the Cathedral Challenge series we'll be joining with a couple of the main rides.
Note that we have switched from the Portsmouth Truck Stop to Farlington Sainsbury's because a recce ride discovered that there were no cakes on offer at the truck stop.
Ride leader notes
I ride a Thorn touring cycle and prefer to lead or participate in rides at a more leisurely pace of 10-11 miles per hour.
I prefer the shorter day or half day rides or local short tours. I do enjoy going off road and do not mind hills as long as there aren't too many of them.
About Cathedral Challenge rides
We're running a series of rides for people who are:
- New to group cycling
- Haven’t cycled for a while
- Want to cycle a bit further than usual
They start with a short, 'get to know you' ride that includes a free bike check and progress through longer distances, tackling a series of challenges on the way:
- Bronze: Havant to Portsmouth cathedral and back
- Silver: Chichester cathedral and back
- Gold: Winchester cathedral and back
There's more detail and a registration form here.
Note that the Cathedral rides are subject to change and adaptation as we learn more about the challenge riders.
