A ride of 19.2 miles around some of the quieter streets and cycle paths on Hayling. Perfect for the Coronavirus lockdown, as you don't have to do it all in one go.
It starts and finishes at Mengham crossroads by the URC, but of course you can join and leave the route at any point, and do it in either direction.
Or you can loop to Sandy Point, the Ferry, Northney, or just all or part way down the Billy Trail (you can cut across to West Lane at the Caution POI, minding the blind bend).
Someone has asked which of this can be done on a road bike, as opposed to a tougher hybrid or mountain bike with wider tyres.
The answer is that I personally would do all of it, but the Billy Trail would be a bit uncomfortable, and I know many people refuse to.
Other that, the beach section can be stony but you can easily avoid it if it is by sticking to the road. There's a short section of rough at the end of Eastoke Avenue, but you can walk that if you're nervous.
But we think you could probably do 100 miles on road on Hayling without doubling up, so just explore!
