Map

Flattish ride to Lavant, then Centurion Way to Fishbourne and Apuldram. Some off-road as part of Salterns Way.
Continue off-road along Salterns Way to West Wittering then follow B2179 to Bracklesham Bay. Weather looks OK, so option of beach picnic(and swim?). Billy's on the Beach restaurant is often very busy, so recommend booking, or fish & chip shop near by.
Return route via Almodington, Highleigh and off-road NCN 88 to North Mundham then Chichester. Off-road sections are quite manageable on 28C or above tyres, and given the dry spell, should be mud free. Total distance around 50 miles.

Ride leader notes

I ride an electric assist gravel bike (Vitus E-Substance with Fazua mid motor). I am usually comfortable with overall distances of 60 miles at a medium pace, typically averaging around 11 mph. I enjoy the traffic free off-road or quiet back country roads routes. A few hills are OK, but avoid the more demanding ones, like Turkey island.

About Wednesday rides

Wednesday rides usually start from Havant with stops for elevenses, lunch and sometimes tea. If you're unable to keep up or have a mechanical problem, someone will be available to help you - although we obviously cannot guarantee to solve all problems.

Wednesday rides usually provide a range of options to riders as we'll try to arrange multiple rides with different paces, distance and degree of hilliness.

On Wednesdays it is likely that there will be several riders coming back to the Havant area after an elevenses stop - although they might not include a PCTC ride leader. If that is what you'd like to do, please consult the ride organiser before the day of the ride to ensure someone knows and is able to bring you back.
