Ride leader notes

My rides will generally be fairly flat and conducted at a relaxed pace with some stops along the way to take in the scenery and take some water.

When it comes to hills you will probably go ahead of me and wait in a safe place for the group to reform.

If you are a rider who just wants to get there fast or one who is monitoring their performance, then my ride is probably not for you.

My Hybrid Helium Crosstrack purchased from Halfords for £139.99 in 2006 is happy to cover all terrains so my rides may include some rougher surfaces, in which case that will be stated in the ride details.

I try to come up with routes that have some interesting features. It could be cycling through a park, or alongside a coastal section, through quiet residential areas. Often there will be a ferry crossing. Where possible I will use shared cycleways avoiding main roads, though when necessary we will use them in a safe and confident manner.

Above all I will try to make the ride an enjoyable social experience.

About Wednesday rides

Wednesday rides usually start from Havant with stops for elevenses, lunch and sometimes tea. If you're unable to keep up or have a mechanical problem, someone will be available to help you - although we obviously cannot guarantee to solve all problems.

Wednesday rides usually provide a range of options to riders as we'll try to arrange multiple rides with different paces, distance and degree of hilliness.

On Wednesdays it is likely that there will be several riders coming back to the Havant area after an elevenses stop - although they might not include a PCTC ride leader. If that is what you'd like to do, please consult the ride organiser before the day of the ride to ensure someone knows and is able to bring you back.
