Ride update

Gilbert has stepped forward to lead tomorrow's ride to the suggested destinations - thanks, again, Gilbert.

Peter Blades will lead the Tuesday ride on 12th September to Alresford and Kings Worthy.

Laurie Brokenshire

Ian Hewitt writes:

Older or longer serving members of the club may be sad to hear that Commodore Laurie Brokenshire died at the beginning of August. Laurie had been guest speaker at two of our annual lunches and spoken at our club nights about his and Ethel's amazing continental cycle rides to the annual international puzzlers’ conferences.

His obituary in the Daily Telegraph is here, although you will need to be a subscriber to read the full article.

Café reminder

Joy Forrow writes:

Last week (Saturday) when we went to Fred's in Bishops Waltham one of the staff asked if we could please let them know if a large group - more than 6 of us - were coming so they could be prepared and book tables. I explained this was not always easy but said we will try to do so in future.

There are, of course, particular problems with BW but, in general, we should always try to warn cafés of our arrival.
