Map
After last week's short, but hilly ride we'll be going on a longer one but - apart from a hill at the start - pretty flat.
We'll head out over Portsdown Hill, down a nice descent towards Southwick, then through Boarhunt and Knowle to Silversprings for elevenses. From there we go south to Titchfield Haven and work along the coast to Gosport. We'll take the ferry across to Portsmouth (don't forget to bring unused tickets if you have them) then via Southsea promenade back to Havant.
If you want to stop somewhere for lunch on the way there might be an opportunity to split the ride. We can discuss possibilities at elevenses.
People that live close to the route don't need to go all the way back to Havant, of course.
About Cathedral Challenge rides
We're running a series of rides for people who are:
- New to group cycling
- Haven’t cycled for a while
- Want to cycle a bit further than usual
They start with a short, 'get to know you' ride that includes a free bike check and progress through longer distances, tackling a series of challenges on the way:
- Bronze: Havant to Portsmouth cathedral and back
- Silver: Chichester cathedral and back
- Gold: Winchester cathedral and back
There's more detail and a registration form here.
Note that the Cathedral rides are subject to change and adaptation as we learn more about the challenge riders.
