Ride leader notes
I have ridden and led rides (and the occasional tour) with this club since the early 1980s and enjoyed many years of long distance cycle camping, touring both in UK and abroad, and longer faster day rides.
Time has modified both my abilities and aspirations so that I no longer engage in the camping aspect but will still do multi day events and overnights, but in more luxury.
I have partially culled my bike collection retaining my recumbent trike (electrified), Raleigh tourer, carbon racer, full suss mountain bike and now my "go to" electric gravel bike and a folder (for away days) for those times when assistance on the hills is helpful.
I prefer relaxed riding in country lanes but am not intimidated by busier roads. I will sometimes add a little bit of off road mixed in. Distance of up to 40 or 50 miles.
I get bored with the same old routes so will seek new ones when possible.
About Wednesday rides
Wednesday rides usually start from Havant with stops for elevenses, lunch and sometimes tea. If you're unable to keep up or have a mechanical problem, someone will be available to help you - although we obviously cannot guarantee to solve all problems.
Wednesday rides usually provide a range of options to riders as we'll try to arrange multiple rides with different paces, distance and degree of hilliness.
On Wednesdays it is likely that there will be several riders coming back to the Havant area after an elevenses stop - although they might not include a PCTC ride leader. If that is what you'd like to do, please consult the ride organiser before the day of the ride to ensure someone knows and is able to bring you back.
This article describes what you should consider bringing with you on one of these rides.
