Map
The ride will start at The Spring in Havant promptly at 9.00 a.m. We will aim to be in South Harting by about 9.50 a.m. in order to allow riders from the west to join us there.
The route will take in Nyewood, Chithurst, Woolbeding and Easebourne (possible coffee stop at Cowdray House) and we will climb over Bexley Hill to Gospel Green where we will turn east, running parallel to the Surrey border, to Plaistow (alternative coffee stop at the village store). We then turn south to Kirdford, Byworth and Graffham where we will have lunch (choice of pubs and village shop).
After lunch we will follow the foot of the downs to Heyshott, Cocking, Bepton, Didling, Elsted and South Harting. We will climb over the downs at Ditcham Park to return to Havant via Finchdean and Rowlands Castle.
The ride will be conducted at the pace of the fast Wednesday rides. It is undulating and hilly with a few significant climbs. It affords fine views over the north West Sussex countryside and, at his time of the year, the scent of dog roses in abundance.
Distance: approximately 70 miles
