Map

A faster ride out to this months club Coffee meet-up at the Queen Elizabeth Country Park (QECP).

Starting at the Spring, a straight forward route out via Emsworth, Westbourne and Aldsworth to join the Compton Road to South Harting. Then heading towards Petersfield before turning off towards Buriton and the QECP where the ride finishes.

Approx 30km (18miles), expect to arrive at QECP at 10.45(ish). Map and GPX above and a good chance to catch up with old and new friends at the park centre.

I'll be heading back via Horndean, towards home afterwards for those who want to go that way.

Ride leader notes

Riding a lightweight road bike (during better months) the faster day rides I lead are typically 100-130km (60-80m) and occasionally 160km (100m).

Routes are at best undulating, usually “lumpy” (hilly), sometimes with severe hills!

- Average GOOD speed on “Faster” rides: 23kph (14mph)
- Average TYPICAL speed on “Faster” rides: 21kph (13mph)

Morning only rides are scaled back versions of day rides, usually at the same pace.

I also lead moderate rides as well, where the terrain difficulty is reduced (not so lumpy!) and the speed is adjusted to those attending the ride.

When I lead Waterlooville Community Cycle Club (WCCC) rides, which are generally easy relaxed rides, the pace is that of the slowest attending rider in the group.

About Pop-up rides

We have certain days when we try to organise regular rides. However, individual ride leaders can create pop-up rides for any day and time.

The small size of some pop-up rides means we might be unable to split a ride if you get into difficulties. We will do all we can to escort you back to the start point, but please be prepared to navigate yourself home or to call for support from a partner, relative or friend.
