Map

Meet at Hayling ferry (Hayling side) to catch 10.20am ferry. Alternatively meet Eastney side of Hayling ferry at 10.30am.
Ride along Eastney and Southsea sea front to Broad Street, Old Portsmouth. Pause for group photo at sign saying "OLD PORTSMOUTH, Broad Street", between the Square ad Round Towers.
According to the "Visit Portsmouth" web site the Round Tower was built around 1418 to defend the entrance to Portsmouth harbour and to prevent raids on the city by French ships. Wikipedia says it is a Grade 1 listed building.
Adjacent to the Round Tower is The Canteen cafe. We may have our coffee stop here, but if too crowded we could head back to The Coffee Pot via Clarence Parade, South Parade, then Eastney Esplanade. Next Henderson Road, Ironbridge Road, Furze Lane, Moorings Way ad Shore Avenue to the Solent Way shared cycle path. Hence to Eastern Road cycleway, Farlington Marsh cycleway and Langstone Technology Park, where our group ride ends having completed 20 miles.

About Wednesday rides

Wednesday rides usually start from Havant with stops for elevenses, lunch and sometimes tea. If you're unable to keep up or have a mechanical problem, someone will be available to help you - although we obviously cannot guarantee to solve all problems.

Wednesday rides usually provide a range of options to riders as we'll try to arrange multiple rides with different paces, distance and degree of hilliness.

On Wednesdays it is likely that there will be several riders coming back to the Havant area after an elevenses stop - although they might not include a PCTC ride leader. If that is what you'd like to do, please consult the ride organiser before the day of the ride to ensure someone knows and is able to bring you back.
