Map

This ride will be at an easy pace, from Bedhampton to the pub at Woodmancote and back. Please note that the start is NOT at the Spring. Also that the start time is later than usual; 10am. At Bidbury recreation ground there is free parking and public toilets are available. You may like to arrive at 9.50am, for a short chat before the start.
At the Woodmancote pub there is usually a good selection of cakes to go with your coffee or tea.
If there are more than 5 riders, we will split into two groups, so that cars can pass us more easily.

Ride leader notes

I joined PCTC in 1986 and have enjoyed club rides ever since. I have two Mercian touring road bikes, a Trek hybrid and a carbon -fibre Specialized Ruby racing bike.
I am considering buying an electric bike, as I find hills a bit tiring now. My usual average moving speed is 10 to 11mph. If I'm riding in the urban environment and have to keep stopping, or if it's very hilly, my average may drop below 10mph.
Although I used to do a lot of long distance rides (Audax PBP & LEL, S.R. Le JoG, etc.) I generally prefer rides of 30 to 50 miles these days. A refreshment stop is a must!

About Saturday rides

Saturday rides tend to be small ones. Typically we offer fewer options for rides than Wednesdays, but more flexibility for routes and destinations.

Most rides are morning only, riding out to a stop for elevenses and back again.

Some will be full day with stops for elevenses, lunch and, possibly, tea. If you want to join a full day ride but only to elevenses and need someone to help you with the route back, please let us know in advance of the ride in case someone else that knows the route wants to do the same.
