Map

Weather is looking great for riding and this is a great summer ride.

Quite long (70 miles) but not very hilly - one climb on the way out and one on the way in.

We'll go to Trotton for elevenses (18 miles) via South Harting and then head East to Midhurst, Selham, Coldwaltham and on to the RSPB site overlooking the river Arun (20 miles further). There is a cafe or you can take a picnic.

Return via Amberley, Houghton, Bignor, Duncton and West Dean (possible tea stop). Total distance 70 miles.

My first Saturday ride for a while so hope you can join me.

Ride leader notes

I am about recovered from my accident in early September 2025. I now usually ride a recumbent e-trike to reduce the risk of falling. I can keep up a good speed on this of around 12mph or slower to suit the group

I record my speed on a Hammerhead Karoo bike computer and the speeds I give reflect what i have recorded over the past few months.

I 'm not keen on urban riding and prefer the countryside of the Downs to the north, west and east of us. Although I'm not a particularly good climber I don't shy away from hills as i think flat rides can be less interesting.

I sometimes lead morning only rides on a Friday for all-comers. On these rides I arrange groups to suit the pace of all riders.

I generally start my rides at the Spring Centre in Havant but will pick up on the route on request. I finish my rides here too although you are welcome to leave the ride elsewhere e.g.nearer to your home.

About Saturday rides

Saturday rides tend to be small ones. Typically we offer fewer options for rides than Wednesdays, but more flexibility for routes and destinations.

Most rides are morning only, riding out to a stop for elevenses and back again.

Some will be full day with stops for elevenses, lunch and, possibly, tea. If you want to join a full day ride but only to elevenses and need someone to help you with the route back, please let us know in advance of the ride in case someone else that knows the route wants to do the same.
