Map
Easy ride from Denmead, Kidmore Lane, starting at 0930.
From Denmead, down to Purbrook Heath, then Crookhorn Lane to Portsdown Hill Road, and across to Gillman Road and out onto the cycle way on Eastern Road.
Across Bransbury Park and along to Eastney, where we can stop for coffee at The Coffee Cup. Onwards to Clarence Pier to look at new cycle paths and sea defence works.
Then out of Portsmouth via the cycle path alongside the Mountbatten Centre. Only downside is the climb up Portsdown Hill, but its not that bad a hill! Ride terminates back at Denmead.
Should finish before lunch.
Total distance of ride is 25 miles + distance to Denmead and your return journey home.
Weather forecast looks good - 17 degrees and sunny.
GPX route to follow as there are some flood avoidance measures on the Eastern Road which I will check out.

Ride leader notes
I have 3 bikes: an Orbea e-bike, a Specialized Ruby bike that has had Cytronex fitted to provide electric assist and a steel touring bike - Argos racing cycles of Bristol which has also had Cytronex fitted. I like to have a pace of around 10-12 mph, preferring slower than fast. I don't mind hills, but try to keep the ascent to a sensible level.
My preferred distance is 40-60 miles, but I'm equally happy to do shorter rides.
About Pop-up rides
We have certain days when we try to organise regular rides. However, individual ride leaders can create pop-up rides for any day and time.
The small size of some pop-up rides means we might be unable to split a ride if you get into difficulties. We will do all we can to escort you back to the start point, but please be prepared to navigate yourself home or to call for support from a partner, relative or friend.
