Map

This ride will visit both East Dean and West Dean. It will be more demanding than previous alphabet rides, since the route is longer and involves more climbing. We'll have two refreshment stops and the ride will last all day.

We will ride to Fishbourne Roman Palace cafe for elevenses first, via Woodmancote and Clay Lane. Then we'll use the Centurion Way to Lavant, turn east, pass Goodwood airfield, then the Goodwood Hotel.

After this there is a very long climb past the Cass Sculpture Park and on to East DEAN. (photo) Next we'll turn west, through Charlton and Singleton, then on the A286 to West DEAN Gardens (photo) for lunch. If possible we'll use a cycleway back to the Centurion Way, but if not we may have to continue on the A286 for a little way. From Lavant, back to The Spring via W.Stoke, Funtington, Racton, Aldsworth and Westbourne.

About Wednesday rides

Wednesday rides usually start from Havant with stops for elevenses, lunch and sometimes tea. If you're unable to keep up or have a mechanical problem, someone will be available to help you - although we obviously cannot guarantee to solve all problems.

Wednesday rides usually provide a range of options to riders as we'll try to arrange multiple rides with different paces, distance and degree of hilliness.

On Wednesdays it is likely that there will be several riders coming back to the Havant area after an elevenses stop - although they might not include a PCTC ride leader. If that is what you'd like to do, please consult the ride organiser before the day of the ride to ensure someone knows and is able to bring you back.
