Map

We're heading back out into the countryside after two urban rides to Portsmouth and back. Distance will be the same as the last two rides.

Once we've escaped Havant and Purbrook we'll be tackling two long, but shallow hills well under 5% incline. An excellent opportunity to practice slow, steady pedalling in a low gear. On the way out and back there are some short, sharper inclines to help you build your 'hill legs'. We'll have some nice descents too!

We'll take a break at Keydell Nurseries. Hopefully the weather will be good enough to be outside but, if we have to go inside, note that the café doesn't want us to move tables and chairs about. The entrance road to the nursery is very steep. Please don't feel obligated to cycle it!

About Cathedral Challenge rides

We're running a series of rides for people who are:

  • New to group cycling
  • Haven’t cycled for a while
  • Want to cycle a bit further than usual

They start with a short, 'get to know you' ride that includes a free bike check and progress through longer distances, tackling a series of challenges on the way:

  • Bronze: Havant to Portsmouth cathedral and back
  • Silver: Chichester cathedral and back
  • Gold: Winchester cathedral and back

There's more detail and a registration form here.

Note that the Cathedral rides are subject to change and adaptation as we learn more about the challenge riders.
