Ride cancelled due to weather. May be rerun at a later date.
After last week's hilly ride, it's time for a longer one. We'll be going out to Denmead via Purbrook and then on to Botley Garden Centre via Waltham Chase. Having refreshed ourselves we'll go on to Southampton for lunch and then back along the coast and across the Hamble on the 'Pink' ferry to Warsash. From there we'll go to Titchfield Haven via a section of rough stuff (but it's still part of the National Cycle Route, so not very rough) then along the coast to join the Gosport Ferry and back via Southsea and Farlington. We expect to be back in Havant around 5pm (depending on how long we stop for breaks, and how long it takes across the ferries).
There will be some lumps in the first half of the ride, but nothing bad and the route is flat for the second half.
The Hamble-Warsash 'Pink' ferry costs £3 for cyclist and bike (cash only). The standard two-trip charge on the Gosport Ferry is £5.10; Seniors £3.30. Bikes cost an extra £1.70. The 'return' section of the ticket can be used any time and in either direction, so don't throw it away. If you have an unused 'return' don't forget to bring it with you.
We need to book lunch places, so please let Phil know if you intend to join the ride.

About Cathedral Challenge rides
We're running a series of rides for people who are:
- New to group cycling
- Haven’t cycled for a while
- Want to cycle a bit further than usual
They start with a short, 'get to know you' ride that includes a free bike check and progress through longer distances, tackling a series of challenges on the way:
- Bronze: Havant to Portsmouth cathedral and back
- Silver: Chichester cathedral and back
- Gold: Winchester cathedral and back
There's more detail and a registration form here.
Note that the Cathedral rides are subject to change and adaptation as we learn more about the challenge riders.
