Taking off road routes and cycle paths down the Eastern road, with minimal on road riding near the sea front. Note: Revised start point of Anchorage Park (Morrisons) due to ongoing flood defence works at Hilsea Lines.

A Friday Evening Ride to Stokes Bay Sailing Club for food, beer & live music.

Depart Micks Burger Van Portsdown Hill at 5pm

Via Wickham and Swanwick to Warsash, then back along the coast to Stokes Bay Sailing Club.

• Food is £7 per person; choice of Fried Chicken strips, Scampi or Sausage, all with chips (needs to be booked and paid for by Wed 2nd Sept)
• Beer £4/pint, Flower Pots or similar
• Live Music

Route is 42km with 262m of climbing (6m/Km) and has a 1.4Km off road section.

We need to arrive at Stokes Bay for 7pm. If you want to join the ride but can't manage distance at this pace there are two options:

• Depart Portsdown Hill earlier than 5pm and we will catch up with you
• Use a shorter route which I will provide for you

In both cases you will need to be able to self navigate.

Starting at Rowlands Castle Parish Hall on Links Lane (in previous years it has started from Denmead).
Tea, coffee and biscuits are included before the start.

The ride takes you to Denmead, over the South Down via Queen Elizabeth Country Park (the Butser cutting), through Buriton and into West Sussex. South Harting, Cocking, Graffam, and then south back over the South Downs via Duncton Hill. There is a volunteer control at Droke Forest car park to refuel. Onwards to West Dean and Chichester on the Centurion Way (a converted railway line). Finally to the coast at Bosham before returning to Rowlands Castle for food and drinks.

New Forest Gridiron entry

Join us in the 33rd running of the iconic ‘GridIron 100’.

One of the oldest on-road Cycle Randonnée’s in the UK. Acclaimed for the beauty of its route, along scenic minor roads, on a circuit of the New Forest adorned in its bright patchwork of stunning autumn colours.

Following last years success we again offer the choice of two routes. The original ‘Classic 100k’, designed to appeal to cyclists of a wide range of abilities and the inaugural ‘Challenge 100 mile’ - a much more demanding ride for the experienced cyclist.

Both routes use the same start/finish and the same two controls/halls along the route. This means that you can ‘mix and match’ the two routes. If you have started on the ‘Challenge 100 mile’ route and feel knackered by the time you reach the 2nd control, continue on the shorter ‘Classic 100k’. Conversely, if you have started on the ‘Classic 100k’ and feel mighty strong at the 2nd control, you can continue on the longer and more challenging ‘Challenge 100 mile’. The choice is entirely yours, just ensure you are capable of cycling whichever distance you choose. Aim to enjoy it!

Five Day Devon Tour

Sun 18^th to Thurs 22^nd April 2027

• Day 1, Sunday - Train to Dorchester, then Cycle to Exeter 100Km
  • Or train direct to Exeter if preferred
  • Book into Premier Inn Exeter St Davids for 3 nights
• Day 2, Monday – West of the Exe Ride
  • Over the edge of Dartmoor, with a flat ride back to Exeter via the Exe Estuary Cycle Route
• Day 3, Tuesday – East of the Exe Ride
  • Over Woodbury Common, then back along the coast, including Budleigh and Exmouth Sea Front, and again flat ride back to Exeter, this time along the Eastern side of the Estuary Cycle Route
• Day 4, Wednesday, Panniers loaded we’ll start our ride home
  • Exeter to Wincanton 120Km, a hilly ride(exact location may vary depending on accommodation availability)

• Day 5, Thursday, riding home
  • Wincanton to Fareham 115Km, less hilly than Wednesdays ride and gets easier the closer we get to home.

The trip includes a variety of routes which I have used previously. There will be hills in Devon and Somerset

Exeter has a great variety of cafes and pubs, including The Imperial, which, with its Orangery, Mickey reckons to be the UK’s poshest Wetherspoons.

Chase the Sun Tour 2027

Two days of gentle touring to Kent, then on Sunday, the years longest day, a long(er) distance ride chasing the sun back to Portsmouth.

Day 1 – Midhurst & then across the High Weald with an overnight stop in the vicinity of Tunbridge Wells. Distance approx. 120Km

Day 2 - onwards to Ramsgate (or maybe Dover), 120Km

Day 3 – OUR BIG DAY CHASING THE SUN - Starting at sunrise(ish) 04:51hrs, well take a coastal route back to Portsmouth, aiming to arrive back at 21:22hrs. A distance of approx. 260Km (160 miles), so easily do-able in 17 ½ hrs, and plenty of time for stops to eat and drink along the way.

Options for overnight stay are camping or B&B, we can decide this and our routes once we know who is riding.
